Description
The material Ti6Al4V is one of the most widely used titanium alloys. The grade 3.7164 is specified according to AMS standards and designed for aerospace applications. Through standards such as AMS 4928 for forged material, bar material, and profiles as well as wires or AMS 4911 for strips and sheets, the material 3.7164 meets the high-quality standards of the aerospace industry.
High purity titanium ingot designed for industrial applications is standardized to ASTM B248 for flat material or ASTM B348 for round material and then becomes material number 3.7165. 3.7165 is also used in medical technology, particularly for surgical implants, 3.7165 is also used. For this area, the ASTM F136 standard specifies strict requirements for the chemical composition and mechanical values. As a result, Ti6Al4V is given the suffix "ELI" (Extra Low Interstitial) and the designation Grade 23 instead of Grade 5.
