Product Introduction

Titanium is the metal used in the aerospace and aviation industry with many excellent properties, such as low density, high strength, corrosion resistance, and high and low-temperature performance. It is an important structural material in aerospace, aviation, ocean, chemical industry, electric power, and metallurgy.

To save titanium resources and reduce costs, and to promote this new metal material in the civil industry, titanium composite plate was introduced into engineering.

Titanium-clad steel plates bimetallic are widely used in petrochemical and pressure vessels. Using composite plate material can reduce the cost tremendously, and also avoid the shortcomings of single titanium equipment and titanium lining structures.

The equipment made of titanium-clad steel plate bimetallic has corrosion resistance in the inner layer and high strength in the outer layer. The combination of the two has good thermal conductivity, as well as the ability to overcome thermal stress, thermal fatigue, pressure difference, and other loads, and can work under more harsh conditions. Therefore, titanium-clad plate bimetallic has become an indispensable structural material for the modern chemical industry and pressure vessel industry.

Titanium clad plate bimetallic is a kind of single-sided or double-sided clad plate that is composed of common grade Gr1 or Gr2 (clad bimetallic) and carbon steel or alloy steel by explosion, explosion + rolling, or hot rolling. Titanium metal has been widely used in flue gas desulfurization equipment, power plant chimneys, chemical reactors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and so on because of its excellent corrosion resistance. However, its disadvantages are high cost. Titanium-clad steel plate tube sheet bimetallic has the corrosion resistance of titanium metal and the structural strength of steel, which can greatly reduce the engineering cost.

A Titanium Composite plate or titanium clad is a titanium clad plate composed of a titanium sheet on the topside, a steel core, and a stainless-steel sheet on the backside. Titanium metal quickly forms a stable oxide film at room temperature and is known for its unparalleled corrosion resistance. Titanium clad plate is suited to the external claddings and roof coverings of buildings located in highly corrosive environments.

Features

Flatness: Titanium composite plate has excellent flatness derived from the continuous laminating process.

Rigidity: As one of the attributes of the composite plate, titanium clad is rigid and lightweight, 4mm is equivalent to titanium 3.1mm thick in rigidity. Titanium is a lightweight metal, further weight reduction is also possible.

Corrosion resistance: The topside titanium has unparalleled corrosion resistance. It will not rust as long as it is used for external claddings and roof coverings, wherever the building is located.

Fire safety: The core has the same contents as normal material, and the titanium composite sheet has fire approval for exterior and interior uses on many occasions.

Note on processing method: To cope with the low machinability of titanium and stainless steel, we need special machines and tools for cutting and grooving clad plates.

Material composition

Titanium clad sheet is composed of a sandwiched material, between 0.3mm thick titanium on the topside and 0.3mm thick stainless on the backside.

Surface finish: Dull Finish, 2B, BA.

Plate thickness: above 4mm

Width: 1000mm

Length: Less than 5000mm

Note: The above 1219mm wide product is available upon request. Please contact our tech team.

6. Processing method

The machinability of titanium is low, and we need special machines and tools for cutting and grooving the composite plate. We recommend the following processing methods:

Cutting: Cutting by shear

We can also use a CNC router for cutting the clad plate.

The purpose of creating such a composite material is to take advantage of the individual properties of titanium and steel. Titanium offers excellent strength, lightweight, and corrosion resistance, while steel provides good conductivity and ductility. By combining these two metals, the resulting clad material can benefit from the desired characteristics of both materials.

Titanium-clad material is commonly used in various industries, including aerospace, marine, automotive, and construction. They offer a cost-effective solution by combining the desirable characteristics of different metals into a single sheet, allowing for optimized performance and functionality in specific applications. It can be employed in applications that require a combination of strength, lightweight, corrosion resistance, and thermal conductivity. Some typical uses of this material include aircraft fuselages, marine structures, heat exchangers, and automobile components.
