Technical application of Gr2 titanium sheet in the manufacture of titanium alloy doors
Titanium alloy doors have excellent corrosion resistance, lightweight characteristics and high-end texture, and have been widely used in architectural decoration and jewelry industry in recent years. Among them, the door body made of ASTM standard intermediate grade 2 titanium sheet (Gr2, industrial pure titanium) has become the mainstream choice in the market by virtue of its comprehensive performance and cost advantages.

So how to screen the titanium alloy door you want? Here are a few things you need to know:
1. Material Characteristics and Selection
Grade 2 titanium sheet contains ≥99.2% titanium, has moderate strength (tensile strength ≥345MPa) and excellent plasticity (elongation ≥20%), and has a density of only 4.5g/cm³, 43% lighter than stainless steel. Its surface can naturally form 5-7nm dense oxide film, stable in pH 3-12 environment, resistant to seawater, acidic atmosphere erosion, service life can reach more than 50 years.
The thickness of the titanium door plate for construction is usually selected from 0.8-1.5mm, and the strength can be increased to 500MPa through the cold hardening process.
2. Core Processing Technology
- The Gr2 titanium plates purchased from the source, then use laser cutting or CNC Waterjet technology to ensure ±0.2mm tolerance, precision blanking to avoid the edge micro-cracks caused by traditional stamping.
- After the use of cold forming process molding processing, bending radius should be ≥3 times the thickness of the plate, complex modeling needs to be combined with 200-300℃ local heating.
- The next step is to use tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, the purity of the protective gas needs to reach 99.999%, and the weld strength coefficient is ≥0.9.
- Finally, the surface is treated by sandblasting (120-180 mesh emery) to form matte texture, or anodized to form color oxide film (voltage 40-90V).
The Industry Development Trend
With the development of vacuum coating technology, the surface of titanium alloy doors can present customized colors such as rose gold and sapphire blue to meet the personalized needs of high-end buildings. According to industry statistics, the market growth rate of titanium doors in 2023 reached 18%, and the penetration rate in super high-rise buildings has exceeded 25%. In the future, with the progress of titanium plate rolling process, the production cost is expected to fall by 15%-20%, promoting its extension to the civil residential market.
