Titanium plate quality inspection: Ensuring the reliability of high-end materials
Titanium plates are widely used in high-end fields due to their excellent properties such as high strength, light weight and corrosion resistance. The strict requirements in these fields make the quality inspection of titanium plates an indispensable core link in the production process, directly related to the safety and reliability of the final product. So how does WEST Ti control quality inspection?
The quality inspection of titanium plates runs through the entire process from raw materials to finished products, forming a systematic scientific system. Its main contents include:
1. Chemical composition analysis: Even minor deviations in its chemical composition can significantly affect the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of titanium plates. Therefore, strict composition control is an important step in subsequent material production and also the foundation of quality inspection. Through spectral analysis, the content of various elements in titanium plates, including iron, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon, is precisely detected to ensure that they meet the standard requirements of specific grades (such as TA1 (Gr1), TA2 (Gr2), TC4 (Gr5)).

2. Mechanical property testing: This is the key to evaluating the performance of titanium plates in use. By conducting tensile tests on a universal testing machine, its tensile strength, yield strength, elongation after fracture and other indicators are determined to verify whether it has the load-bearing capacity and deformation capacity required by the design.
3. Geometric dimensions and surface quality inspection: Use precision measuring tools to measure the thickness, width, length and unevenness of the titanium plate to ensure that its dimensional accuracy meets the processing requirements. At the same time, the surface should be carefully inspected to ensure that there are no defects such as cracks, peeling, overly thick oxide scale, or pockmarks that affect the performance of use.
4. Non-destructive testing: This is the "sharp eye" for detecting minute internal and surface defects. Common methods include:
Ultrasonic testing: It is mainly used to detect defects such as interlayers, pores and shrinkage cavities inside the plates.
Penetrant testing: It is used to detect fine cracks, pinholes and other defects on the surface openings of titanium plates.
5. Quality documents and certificates: The ultimate manifestation of inspection results. When titanium plates leave the factory, the manufacturer must provide quality certification documents along with the goods. According to customer requirements or industry norms, this is usually divided into two types:
a. Factory inspection certificate: Issued by the manufacturer itself, it certifies that the product complies with its internal standards or the order agreement. Usually, we provide the MTC 3.1 certificate, which is a specific type of certificate in compliance with the European standard EN 10204, representing "Verification Certificate of Compliance with Order Requirements", and is issued by the independent inspection department (not the production department) authorized by the manufacturer.
b. Third-party Testing certificates: Issued by independent and qualified testing institutions (such as SGS, BV, etc.) for inspection, the proof results are more objective and fair, and are highly recognized in international trade.

In conclusion, the quality inspection of titanium plates is a multi-dimensional and high-precision comprehensive evaluation process, and its rigor is ultimately reflected in the legally binding quality certificate. It is not only the manufacturer's commitment to product quality, but also a guarantee of safety and confidence for downstream users. WEST Ti will implement strict quality control for each batch of goods. The above steps are all essential processes before leaving the factory to ensure the quality of customers' products.
