Product Introduction
Description
The technology for low-strength titanium seamless pipes is rather mature in China, in some pipes that require high-pressure resistance and structural stress, thick-walled titanium seamless pipes are generally used. However, due to factors such as low yield and long delivery cycles of titanium seamless pipes, the expanding use of titanium welded pipes has become a trend in engineering. Compared with titanium seamless pipes, the advantages of titanium welded pipes are obvious. In developed countries such as Japan, the United States, and the EU, titanium-welded pipes are replacing titanium seamless pipes gradually.
The appearance and quality of titanium welded pipes are superior to those of titanium seamless pipes
Titanium Gr3 welded pipes are made by welding cold rolled strip coils, with uniform wall thickness, good concentricity, good smoothness, and less prone to scaling inside the pipes. Especially for thin-walled titanium pipes, the seamless rolling process cannot meet their technical requirements. It is difficult to achieve a wall thickness of less than 1 mm for titanium seamless pipes through rolling or drawing processes; Titanium welded pipes can achieve a wall thickness of 0.5 mm or less, saving a lot of materials and costs. Meanwhile, due to the thinner wall thickness of titanium welded pipes, higher heat transfer coefficients can be achieved, resulting in better heat transfer effects.
Environmental advantages of titanium welded pipes
The production of titanium seamless pipes is using rolling or drawing of pipe blank through multiple passes, and finally producing seamless pipes after reducing the diameter and wall. The production efficiency is low compared to the welded pipes. Titanium seamless pipes, from sponge titanium to pipes, waste a lot of material through rolling or drawing, with a yield rate of only about 50%, and cannot achieve large-scale mass production. The production cycle is also relatively long.
Titanium welded pipes are produced through automated continuous production lines, using titanium strips with uniform wall thickness that undergo cold bending, welding, online heat treatment, sizing and straightening, non-destructive testing, and airtightness testing. From sponge titanium to welded pipes, the material utilization rate is usually around 80%. If titanium strip coils are used as raw materials, the material utilization rate is above 95%. With the rapid development of the domestic titanium industry and the increasingly mature welding technology, the production efficiency of titanium welded tubes will also be greatly improved, with higher quality stability, consistency, and production efficiency. They can be cut to the required length according to customer requirements, with short delivery time, high material utilization rate, and lower unit cost compared to seamless pipes.
Titanium seamless pipes are usually produced using processes such as rolling or drawing. During the production process, a large amount of rolling oil is used, causing serious pollution on the production site. After rolling and drawing titanium pipes, it is necessary to degrease and acid wash the oil, dirt, and other substances on the inner and outer surfaces of the pipes. The acid-washing process causes significant environmental pollution. To ensure the health of operators and protect the environment, it is necessary to increase protective equipment and measures, which increases capital investment and correspondingly increases product production costs. Titanium welded pipes are continuously produced in large quantities through automated production lines, with stable quality and high production efficiency, and there is almost no pollution to the environment.
With the expanding uses of titanium welded pipes, in the petrochemical industry, the welding tubes are accepted by the market gradually, with a wider range of applications and a larger market share. Although titanium welded pipes have a higher investment cost compared to commonly used fluid transportation pipelines, their cost is lower than that of titanium seamless pipes. From the analysis of the service life and maintenance cycle, the investment cost can be compensated during production. The use of titanium Gr3 welded pipes in pipeline systems can reduce production costs by reducing the frequency of regular maintenance, reducing downtime, improving product quality, and improving pipeline life. Especially in recent years, the global titanium industry has not been very prosperous and competition has been very fierce. The price of titanium-welded pipes has always been at a relatively low level, and enterprises in the petrochemical industry have lower initial equipment investment costs when choosing titanium-welded pipes.
