If nuclear power is used for power generation, every one million kilowatts of power generation capacity will consume 20 to 25 tons of metallic zirconium per year. A 30000-horsepower nuclear submarine uses zirconium alloy as the cladding and pressure pipe for nuclear fuel, with a usage capacity of 20 to 30 tons.
