Store knives in a block or on a magnetic rack.

 

Never place knives in a sink filled with other items. This can damage the blade and cause accidents.

 

Always use a cutting board. Countertops and other hard surfaces can dull the blade.

 

Can I put my knives in the dishwasher for cleaning?

Due to the high carbon element, Dishwasher detergents and heat are hard on knife materials. So, we do not recommend dishwasher use for knives. The best way to care of your cutlery is to hand wash all your knives in warm soap water. Allow them to air dry completely before returning them to their block.

 

Is it possible to order a single piece for my existing set?

Individual serving and place-setting pieces, also known as "open-stock", may be available separately. This allows you to replace pieces that may be lost or damaged. However please note that not all patterns have open stock items.

What is the thickness of the PVD coating?

Depending on the application (Functional or Decorative) the thickness range is 0.30 to 1.0 microns for Decorative and 2.0 – 5.0 microns for Functional.

 

How hard is the coating?

Depending on the application, this can range from 2000 to 3500 HV or approximately 70-80 HRC.

 

What is the corrosion resistance?

The industry standard for chrome-plated brass is 1000 hours of neutral salt fog or 100 to 150 hours of CASS.

 

What colors are available?

The range of PVD colors includes Brass, Gold, Black to Gray, Silver, Copper, & Rainbows. We also pioneered PVD antique finishes like Bronze.
